FG Shows Evidence of N200bn for ASUU

The presidential aide addressed the media on Wednesday.

The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Public
Affairs, Doyin Okupe, has provided evidence that the
Federal Government has opened an account for public
universities at the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN.

The opening of the account and disbursement of N200
billion to the universities within two weeks was one of the
demands made by ASUU before they would call off the five months old strike.

ASUU president, Nasir Fagge, had stated in an interview
with Channels TV that the opening of the account and the
disbursement of the money to the Universities would make the lecturers call off the strike.

“Once that is done, and the committee that is supposed to disburse the funds starts working, our members will have no reason not to suspend the strike action,” he said.

Mr. Fagge had also addressed a press conference on
Monday in which he stated that a central monitoring
committee should be established to monitor the usage of
the revitalisation fund and should submit quarterly reports to the Minister of Education.

Speaking to journalists in his office on Wednesday, Mr.
Okupe showed reporters evidence of correspondences
between the office of the Accountant General of the
Federation, AGF, and the Central Bank.

The documents showed that on November 13, the AGF
authorized the banking and payment system department
of the Central Bank of Nigeria via a letter with reference
number FD/OAGF/220/ADC/1/4DF to open a “revitalization
of Universities Infrastructural Account” with the CBN.

Pastors Asking All Virgins To Step Out in Church. Is this Right?

Why do pastors ask all virgins to come out for special prayer.

What is worse is that they make such request in mixed sermons when parents are with their wards.

The awkward moment you see a girl whom you have bleeped stepping out. Do you stop her?

That awkward moment when you are still seated with your parents eyes on you...
Na only God go save you when you and your parents reach house

Over Three Million Nigerians In US, Canada – Carrington

A former Ambassador of United States to Nigeria, Mr. Walter Carrington, has said no fewer than three million Nigerians live and work in US and Canada.

He stated that Nigerians abroad excelled in their sectors of the US society.

According to him, Nigerians are the most accomplished immigrant group in the US, said the former envoy, while speaking on Monday at the 29th convocation lecture of the University of Ilorin.

The lecture was titled, ‘On the dawn of Nigeria’s second century: challenges to a new generation’.

He, however, stated that he found out that Nigerians in the Diaspora do not want to come back home for fear of corruption and growing insecurity.

The envoy noted that the country was blessed with great human and material resources.

He said Nigeria had an unmatched pool of human resources, adding that no country in Africa had such a richness of human capital.

President Jonathan To Depart For Pilgrimage To Israel This Week

The Executive Secretary of the Nigeria Christian Pilgrim Commission (NCPC), Kennedy Opara at the weekend announced that President Goodluck Jonathan will this week depart Nigeria for Israel with 19 state governors and some cabinet members as part of the 2013 Christian pilgrimage to the Holy Land.

President Jonathan who flagged off the 2013 pilgrimage to the Holy land in Abuja on Saturday night also evaluated the history of pilgrimage in Nigeria and submitted that the hitherto spiritual exercise had lost its real essence, saying many Nigerians saw it as a leeway to engage in commercial activities.

He lamented that even at a time when Nigerians were supposed to draw closer to God, they had continued to negate the spiritual essence of the trip, urging Nigerians to use pilgrimages as avenues to seek divine intervention in the affairs of the country.

“In recent times, pilgrimage has lost its essence because many people have commercialised it. The current situation in the country demands that we all join hands to fight terrorism. We must not allow terrorism to derail us from delivering the dividends of democracy.

“We are fighting a serious battle but we are not alone. Christ is with us and so we must put on the whole armour of faith,” he said.

The president was represented by Senate President, David Mark at the event. President Jonathan is the first sitting Nigerian leader to embark on the Christian pilgrimage.

President Jonathan is also expected to sign a Bilateral Air Services Agreement (BASA), with Israeli authorities while in the Holy land.

FG plans electricity subsidy for indigent Nigerians

Abuja – The Minister of Information, Mr Labaran Maku, said plans had reached advanced stage to subsidise cost of electricity for poor Nigerians under the Power Sector Roadmap.

Maku said this in Abuja on Tuesday at the second edition of the monthly briefing by the Ministry of Information on the performance of the economy.
He allayed fears that many Nigerians, especially those in rural areas, cannot afford the cost of electricity under private investors.
According to Maku, the Federal Government has guaranteed that all Nigerians, irrespective of their social status, will have unhindered access to electricity when private investors eventually take over the power sector.
Maku said the planned subsidy and other programmes were all geared toward long term sustainability and genuine transformation of the sector.
“ We have put in place all other support institutions to ensure the efficient functioning of the electricity market.
Maku said the planned subsidy and other programmes were all geared toward long term sustainability and genuine transformation of the sector.
“ We have put in place all other support institutions to ensure the efficient functioning of the electricity market.
“The payment of severance package to PHCN staff is to be concluded by the end of October and physical handover to the new owners thereafter.’’
Maku said the successes recorded so far and the projected growth in the sector represented the ingenuity of the transformation to turn deficit into opportunities for investments in the power sector.
He appealed to Nigerians to be patient with the President, noting that the benefits of the planning and investments in the sector in the past few years would soon begin to yield results.

Panic, confusion in Imo community as school boys launch rocket ( Culled from The Vanguard Nigeria Newspaper)

September 27, 2013 is a day   residents of the sleepy rural community of Umuchima, Ubaha, Okigwe Local Government Area of the state will not forget in a hurry. On this fateful day, a very unusual but deafening noise suddenly rented the air, accompanied by a rare spectacle that threw all and sundry into panic as they scampered into safety. The strange sound was later traced to the family home of a visually-impaired pensioner, Mr. Augustine Eke.
What further heightened people’s anxiety was when they also noticed a thick smoke coming from the hapless man’s compound. They had every reason to believe that Boko Haram insurgents had invaded the community. News quickly spread that a rocket had landed in Eke’s compound. They were right but it was not coming from Boko Haram!
Indeed it later turned out that there really was no cause for alarm as the rocket was nothing but a practical expression of the technological talents of an ex-student of Federal Government College, Okigwe, Gideon Chiadikobi Emenike and his friend, Chibuisi Nwafor. The duo fabricated and launched a rocket that travelled over five kilometres into the sky before crash landing.

Kalu Gave Obasanjo N100m For 1999 Elections

Former Governor of Abia State, Orji Uzor Kalu, has said he gave ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo N100m to run his campaign in 1999.

He said he gave another N100m to the Peoples Democratic Party prior to the 1999 elections.

The former governor said this as ‘Guest of the Week’ on a Kaduna-based Liberty FM radio programme on Saturday.

He said, “I made millions before joining politics. I was doing business between Maiduguri and the East. I carried fish from Maiduguri to the East and palm oil from the East to Maiduguri. So, I had money and invested so much in the PDP.

“If the party is a company, I would have been a major shareholder. I and (Saminu) Turaki spent more on the party than any other Nigerian. How much did (President Goodluck) Jonathan have before he became the President? I was the first to give the party N100m to register. I was also the first to give Obasanjo N100m to campaign during the 1999 election.”

On the frosty relationship between him and Obasanjo, Kalu said things fell apart between him and the former leader when he discovered that Obasanjo was deceiving Nigerians.

Kalu said, “I fell apart with Obasanjo on the issue of third term. He wanted to be a life President. Nobody can tell me that Obasanjo was not interested in a third term. Huge money was involved in the project. Two senators from my state came with the money and I asked them to return it.

“It was the then President of America, George Bush, who genuinely derailed the third term agenda. I told Bush about it and that is why Obasanjo hates me. Bush told him that it was not possible in a constitutional democracy. I try to avoid him (Obasanjo) at public functions.”

On the 2015 election, Kalu said, “People should stop imposing the President on Nigerians. Let the people chose their President.

“Igbo are going to vote for Igbo in 2015. Jonathan has the constitutional right to run but he is not an Igbo man. There are many qualified Igbo men. I am not saying I’m running for President now but there are possibilities that other Igbo men are thinking about that. Northerners should support us for the presidency in 2015 because we supported (Shehu) Shagari. We supported (Umaru) Yar’Adau, (Yakubu) Gowon and Tafawa Balewa,” Kalu added.

He said his return to PDP was to give the party a second chance and to see if he could make positive changes in the party.

On the state of emergency declared by the President on three North-East states of Borno, Yobe and Adamawa, Kalu said the declaration was nothing but a movement of troops from one place to another, adding that the security chiefs did not advise the President properly.

"I Slept With My Boss To Give My Boyfriend A Job"

I got this email from one of my Blog Reader(www.flaubertajiero.com) who need a public opinion on her predicament. I.D kept Confidential.

It Reads:

Dear FAB Readers,

I need solutions, it all seems like my world is crashing right before me.

I'm a girl of 28 and I'm in a relationship of about 2 years now.

I work with an insurance company and life has been good until my boyfriend lost his job roughly 10 months ago. And everything changed. I cater for him and myself as well since then.

He continually nags about not having a job despite his applications for a new one. And to be very honest this whole situation sucks life out of me.

So I decided to meet my boss at the office and I asked if he could help in any way. He accepted but requested sex with me and because I felt fed up with my boyfriend's situation, I gave in to sleep with my boss but we'd an agreement that it will be a one time stuff. I was desperate and was willing to sacrifice for my boyfriend.

Weeks later my boyfriend got the job and according to the company policy, employees must have a 3 months training before confirmation.

This situation led to my boyfriends being trained at my branch of the company, which is also where my boss that gave him the job works.

Just less than 6 weeks my boss couldn't let me stay for a day without further request for sex and in the process my boyfriend found out the whole thing.

He quit the job instantly and left town without a word. Doesn't take my calls to hear my side of the whole thing.

I feel confused as I've only intended to assist but it's all falling on me now.

I wrote so that I can have a public view and advice on what to do.

Is there a chance or anything I could do to salvage the situation

Please I need help.

Thanks

N.J

2,000 Civilians Flee Borno To Niger Republic

More than 2,000 Nigerians living in border villages in Borno State have reportedly fled as a result of the ongoing military operations targeted at routing insurgents from the area under the emergency rule.

The fleeing villagers were said to have headed to the neighbouring Niger Republic.

“Most of the residents of border villages of Borno have fled to Niger. About 2,000 people from Abadan, Malam Fatori and other villages are now refugees in Difa, Niger Republic,” a top security officer told one of our correspondents on Sunday.

The source said that the Joint Military Task Force was on the trail of members of the Boko Haram sect, who were dislodged from the Sambisa Game Reserve and other camps on Thursday in Borno State.

It was learnt that residents of Maiduguri and other communities far from the border, who did not want to be caught in the cross-fire had also fled to some neighbouring states, including Kano and Bauchi.

The Director of Defence Information, Defence Headquarters, Brig.-Gen. Chris Olukolade, could not confirm whether the Nigerian villagers had fled to Niger Republic.

“I will have to find out,” he said.

As the time of sending this report, he had yet to comment on the development.

Also, Nigerian Immigration Public Relations Officer, Ekpedeme King, promised to find out if any Nigerian villagers fled to Niger Republic.

However, he did not respond to subsequent calls and a text message sent to his phone.

Olukolade, in a statement on Sunday, said, “A total of 20 terrorists were apprehended as they fled. Altogether, three soldiers died, while seven are wounded and are being treated in military medical facility, one soldier is missing.”

According to Olukolade, patrols are also ongoing to secure towns and villages from infiltration by the terrorists.

He added that the curfews imposed on identified flashpoints were being enforced.

The military spokesman said that dislodged terrorists had been in disarray with a large number of them heading for various borders.

He said, “Their bases are being deserted but they are making efforts to evacuate most of the large stock of logistics, including scores of vehicles in their holdings.

“In the course of special forces and operations, a number of encounters have ensued since yesterday (Saturday).”

The military had on Saturday said 10 Boko Haram members were killed, while 65 others were arrested during encounters with the terrorists on Friday.

On Sunday, Olukolade said, “The required reinforcement and logistics have been delivered to forces in fronts where they have been engaging a large number of heavily armed terrorists since yesterday.

Ex-Minister Regrets Sending Children Abroad For Studies

A former Minister of Works, Adeseye Ogunlewe, at the weekend said he regrets sending his children to study abroad and advised wealthy Nigerians to desist from such.

Mr. Ogunlewe, who is a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, said he struggled to meet with the financial implications of that decision and realized it was not worthwhile.

The former minister, who is now the pro-chancellor of Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, bared his frustration when the Alumni Association of the school visited in his Ogudu residence in Lagos.

Mr. Ogunlewe said he had to pay his children’s tuition “through the nose”. He said the monies spent on transportation alone on them were enough to complete their education back home.

The former minister said, the reduction of tuition fee in federal institution by Present Goodluck Jonathan is a welcome development and will be a relief to many parents and guardians.

He warned the country leaders and other well-to-dos in the country to desist from sending their wards abroad for academic benefits.

Nigeria invents motor part from palm kernel shells

Palm kernel shells, which an average Nigerian farmer considers as waste and ‘throws into the fire’ as fuel, may soon be an expensive commodity, as the country has successfully turned it into raw materials for brake pads, a motor part.

Director General of the Raw Materials Research and Development Council (RMRDC), Professor Peter Onwualu, made the revelation at the weekend
.

He said: “A young man from Obafemi Awolowo University, OAU, under our national design competition, received a grant to produce brake pad, using palm kernel shells as a raw material.

“Today, the material is now a good subpart. And the young man came up with a design and produced the material.

“We moved it to a company in Lagos that manufactures brake pads. And it produced a good brake pad from it.

“That brake pad is ready for the market. The only thing holding us is someone who can go into the business.

“If I receive a guarantee now, that someone is ready to buy one million copies, it is going to be something else. This is a joint project between the council and the automotive council.”

When our reporter asked him why industries are not buying into research products from the academia, he said the culture was changing.

He said his agency was leaving no stone unturned to make sure industries increased their enthusiasm for research products from the country.

“What we are doing,” he said, “is to make sure the industries are part of the research from the beginning. And as I told you with this example, the company in Lagos is part of this research.

“By the time we finished, it was able to produce it. So we are still discussing. It’s not like industries are not involved.”

18yrs Old Girl Invents Device That Can Charge Phone Battery In Just 20 Seconds

A California teen has attracted the attention of tech giants Google for her potentially revolutionary invention which charges a phone in 20 seconds flat.

The super-fast charging device has been dubbed a super capacitor by 18-year-old Esha Khare, of Saratoga - as she took home $50,000 from the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair, which took placein Phoenix this week.
The device will make waiting hours for a phone to charge a thing of the past and the gizmo packs more energy into a smaller space than traditional phone batteries and holds the charge for longer. Eesha Khare, 18, of Saratoga, Calif.,received the Intel Foundation Young Scientist Award of $50,000 for the invention of a tiny energy-storage device With great power: The supercapacitor is flexible and tiny, and is able to handle 10,000 recharge cycles, more than normal batteries by a factor of 10.

So far, Khare has only used her supercapacitor to power a light-emitting diode or LED - but she sees a bright future that one day will see her invention powering cellphones, cars and any gadget that requires a rechargeable battery.

Heading to Harvard, Khare told CBS San Francisco that this is only the start and that she will 'be setting the world on fire' from here. 'My cellphone battery always dies,'she told NBC News when asked what inspired her to work on the energy-storage technology.

Specializing in nanochemistry allowed Khare to reduve the size of her invention.'Really working at the nanoscaleto make significant advances in many different fields.' Khare claimed the top three prizes at this year?s Intel International Science and Engineering Fair in Phoenix Aspirations: Google have been in contact with Miss Khare to explore how she plans to change the makeup of cell phone battery life 'It is also flexible, so it can be used in rollup displays and clothing and fabric,' Khare added.
'It has a lot of different applications and advantages over batteries in that sense.' The supercapacitor is flexible and tiny, and is able to handle 10,000 recharge cycles, more than normal batteries by a factor of 10.
How an 18-year-old girl has managed to figure out something that multi-national corporations have not has led to her being flooded with offers for her amazing leap forward.

El-Rufai To Soludo: You Created A Cancer

Soludo's Solution Of Anger And Innuendo By Nasir El Rufai
Posted: May 10, 2013 - 00:50

Long before the publication of The Accidental Public Servant, I had decided to resist joining issues with whatever commentators wrote in response to the book by way of either attacking the author or its contents. It is a narrative of my experiences and views, and I would simply invite others to document theirs. Many of those that commented on, or 'reviewed' the book had not even read it in full. Others had decided long before it was published that they would attack El-Rufai and whatever he writes, while a few others were simply going to be unhappy with how they were presented in the book as being less than perfect. When one writes a 700-page book, one has to take a deep breath and allow others the slack to write a few pages in response, however disagreeable or abusive.

Nasir el-Rufai’s Book as Intellectual Fraud?

Nasir el-Rufai’s Book as Intellectual Fraud?

Although there is no single definition of fraud, the online definitions that come to mind as one reads Nasir el-Rufai’s book (The Accidental Public Servant) is “fraud as course of deception, an intentional concealment, omission, or perversion of truth”, or “an intentional deception made for personal gain or to damage another individual”. I know el-Rufai as a brilliant fellow and I certainly expected a definitive book. His stated objective was to “tell the story of my public service years…” but it turned out a very bad example of how to write a memoir. It is more of wild concoctions and commentaries on imagined events outside of his “public service years”. As I read parts of the book that relate to things that I should know about, I shook my head in disbelief. I could not believe that el-Rufai could descend so low. While I will surely correct many of his wrong narratives in my book, I thought I have a duty to make a preliminary response – for public records!

Contrary to his narrative, most of us in government knew that el-Rufai desperately wanted to succeed President Olusegun Obasanjo as president. He plotted and schemed, destroying anyone perceived to be potentially in his way. Obasanjo scorned him; the scheme through the PDP Reform Forum failed; and with the bid to replace Major General Muhammadu Buhari in Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) still a work in progress, it is understandable that the bitterness would find succor in a book to smear and destroy any known potential threat. The only good person in the whole book is el-Rufai, and perhaps also my dear sister, Oby Ezekwesili. For him, it is either that Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala was power hungry or that “Charles was not grateful”. We understand his motives, but for him to also fabricate stories about Obasanjo, Atiku Abubakar, and Mallam Nuhu Ribadu the way he did (the three persons that literally made him tick in government) speaks volumes. What a very grateful person! My people have a proverb that when a foolish and disrespectful child utters abomination before his elders, he beats his chest that he has exhibited uncommon courage.

The book is grossly dishonest. It is amusing to read the purported conversations he had with President Obasanjo on the third term bid. One reads almost two or three pages as quotes from the conversation and most parts of the book are replete with similar long quotes of purported conversations (all in inverted commas). This tactic was deceptively employed to give the impression of authenticity to the claims of such conversations. Surely, it is impossible to report the proceedings of a meeting or conversation verbatim after the meeting. It would therefore mean either that he was tape-recording every private conversation he had with people or that he simply fabricated those long quotes. If he cannot produce the tape recordings of those conversations (which I believe he doesn’t have), he should be honest enough to admit that he made up those stories/quotes. It is too cheap of him to fabricate those quotes and seek to exploit the gullibility of the reading public to damage other people.

I was amused by el-Rufai’s disingenuous attempt to frame stories about the Economic Management Team, which he forced himself upon and probably destroyed. As pertains to me, he lied all the way in an attempt to concoct a mischievous narrative or plot. He calls Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala “Ngozi”. I call her “Madam”. He tells a fairy tale of how I was a student or protégé of Ngozi’s father. Sorry el-Rufai, the respected Prof. Okonjo had left University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) before I became a student, and our paths did not cross until the mid-1990s (while my Ph.D was in 1989). If you even called Ngozi on the phone, she would have confirmed to you that she never got any consulting contract for me at the World Bank or any multilateral institution as you claimed. If you cared for the facts, you would have known that I began to interact with Ngozi in late 1999, in the fourth month of my 18-month consulting assignment at the World Bank (an assignment to which I was nominated by three pan-African Institutions – ADB, UNECA, and AERC – for the project on “Can Africa Claim the 21st Century”). You don’t lie about matters that have records.

For your information el-Rufai, before I met anyone of you at the original Economic Management Team, I had (for a decade) lived in Ethiopia, United Kingdom, and United States of America (USA) and traveled to 45 other countries as an itinerant scholar and consultant; worked at the United Nations; been to Oxford, Cambridge and Warwick Universities; was a visiting professor at Swarthmore, USA; and consultant to 18 international organisations including the World Bank, IMF, OECD, EU, ADB, various UN agencies, etc. I have been consultant to different departments of the World Bank at different times, including being on the Chief Economist Advisory Council (CEAC) for the period 2005 - 2012 and no Nigerian had anything to do with any of them. I spent 19 months at the Brookings Institution, USA (January 1991 – July 1992; and three months in 1998) but according to el-Rufai, I went to Brookings after a consulting job at the World Bank (which would then mean ‘after 2000’?). According to el-Rufai, I became Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) in “mid 2005” instead of May 2004. He manufactures both the facts as well as the comments.

By el-Rufai’s own account in the book, the approval to embark on the demolition of properties in Abuja was obtained on 30th August, 2003. I state (and challenge him to prove otherwise) that Ngozi was no longer staying at Bolingo Hotel by the time he started his demolition programme. How can you then fabricate a story that we met at her suite in Bolingo Hotel and also fabricate a purported quotation of what I told you, which among other things, referred to your demolition programme? I thought you were smart enough el-Rufai to at least lie consistently. Is this not fool proof that you made up all the quotations in the book?

As at the last count, no less than 15 persons claimed to have recommended me as Chief Economic Adviser or Central Bank Governor. My simple response to all is: thank you! Thank you also el-Rufai if indeed you played the role I have just read from your book that you played in my appointment as Chief Economic Adviser. Of course, President Obasanjo is still alive and several of the actors are also alive. In my own memoir, I will detail how I joined President Obasanjo’s government. I have also heard fantastic claims of some people that they literally appointed me governor of CBN. In a recent chat with President Obasanjo, he for the umpteenth time insisted that nobody can ever claim to have advised him to appoint me as governor of CBN. He reminded me that even I did not know—which is a fact!

El-Rufai also conveniently forgot that he first met me in late 2000 when I came from the US to help the federal government prepare for the IMF Article IV consultations and also train senior staff of CBN, Ministry of Finance and National Planning on the macroeconomic and technical computations involved (paid for by USAID). el-Rufai chose to forget that he pleaded for my technical assistance to Bureau of Public Enterprises (BPE) as a consultant but I told him I was too busy with my international assignments. I rather offered to attend any of his privatisation committee meetings anytime I was in the country and to offer my services free of charge. He forgot that I wrote several technical notes to help him succeed, including being the sole author of the initial draft “Anti-trust and Competition Policy” – all free of charge!

El-Rufai seemed unhappy that I gave every credit of our achievement to President Obasanjo. Well, I am informed enough to know that in a presidential system of government, only the president is elected with the mandate to govern and every appointed person in the executive branch has a delegated responsibility to assist him. Only in Nigeria would you see a minister or appointed official write books to take credit for achievements in office. As governor of the central bank, I made it clear that I received every award or recognition on behalf of the president. I have no apologies for that.

Interestingly, el-Rufai tells the story of the great achievements of President Obasanjo in restoring the Abuja masterplan, using him as an assistant. I thank him for at least acknowledging that the idea to restore the masterplan was Obasanjo’s and that he drove it all the way. What he did not tell is the story of how el-Rufai’s vindictiveness almost ruined the exercise as well as the monumental fraud associated with it. This is for another day!

Of course, el-Rufai could not hide his opposition to the banking sector consolidation. Unfortunately as we say in my place, you cannot cover the moon with your palms. You may not like Soludo or Obasanjo, but in the last 27 years, there are two fundamental structural transformations of the Nigerian economy that have taken place – the telecommunications revolution, and the banking sector revolution (consolidation). Ours was not a mere reform, it was a revolution! Nigeria’s only transnational corporations were built in three years.

We put two Nigerian banks in the top 300 banks in the world and they remain there, and nine others in the top 1,000 (there was none before my tenure). The Nigerian private sector as we know it today (especially the new economy in oil and gas and emerging big businesses) largely owes its wealth to our revolution. The world acknowledges that without our foresight and courage, the Nigerian financial system and economy would have collapsed during the global financial crisis. We developed a robust, transparent and no-nonsense regulatory and supervisory regime before the global crisis, and left behind one of the strongest banking systems that was globally rated in the same league as those of Israel, India, China, and Russia. You chose to forget that we revoked the licenses of 14 banks in one day (unprecedented in our history), including banks owned by my friends. This is a story for another day!

The story of how we built the world’s fastest growing financial system and Nigeria’s largest transnational corporations in three years, rescued the entire system from collapse despite the unprecedented four shocks that buffeted the system during the global crisis, on course to fully restructure the few ailing banks before the end of 2009 with or without a penny from government; and designed the comprehensive roadmap for sustainability and growth (under FSS 2020) is told in my book. Our Financial System Strategy (FSS 2020) remains the roadmap till date. Sorry el-Rufai, there is little you can do about this record. Even with ten 234NEXT newspapers, and 20 other books, you cannot re-write history!

Since el-Rufai takes pleasure in reporting what ordinarily should be private conversations, let me also take the liberty to report that he admitted to me on April 28, 2013 that what he wrote about me were the “impressions” he was given. That for me summed it up. My advice el-Rufai, is that you don’t collect some hair dressing salon gossip, hearsay, ‘impressions’, and wild imaginations – all intentionally designed to damage others, and bind them into a book without crosschecking the facts. That is intellectual fraud!

8 Dos And Donts Of Selling Aso-ebi by festuskol (Not by Onis)

Having your friends in the same fabric sewn into various styles and spiced up with different types of accessories definitely adds color to many African events. Picking and selling the aso-ebi however takes a lot of planning. Here are some dos and don’ts to make it easier for you.
1. Don’t rip people off – If you bought the cloth for 10k, don’t sell for 20k. That is a rip off. Sometimes you may need to add alittle token to cover the cost of delivering the aso-ebi to your friends, but don’t rip people off bymaking it a lot more expensive than it is. The truth is people will always find out, and how will that make you look?
2. Give them enough notice – Don’t just send text to people about aso-ebi when it is three weeks to your event. Let them know well ahead so they can fit it into their budget and also make necessary arrangement for sewing it.
3. Don’t take it personal if someone can’t buy – People have different reasons for saying no, it may be that they are broke at the time or because it doesn’t fit into their budget or even because they already have something similar to it. They have a right to say so. Respect it.
4.Buy what they will love to wear – Make an effort to buy a beautiful material that will be worth their money and can still be useful even after the event.
Choose nice colours and fabric not only based on your preference, if possible let a few of your friends go with you and sample their opinions before you choose.
5. Consider your friend’s spending power - If most of your friends earn less than 100k, it really doesn’t make sense to be selling aso-ebi that costs 50k, not many people will be willing to spend half of their salary on your aso-ebi.
6. One good turn deserves another –If you persuaded people to buy your aso-ebi it is only normal for them to expect you to buy theirs’ when they are having an event too. Be prepared, and if for any reason you can’t, send them an apology.
7. Don’t act desperate – Yes, the more people wearing the aso-ebi the more colourful it looks but desperation is when you go round looking for phone numbers of friends you have not called for the past twenty years just to sell aso-ebi to them. That is a no-no.
8. Say thank you – Yes it is your event and your friends should support you by wearing the aso-ebi, but the truth is that they are doing you a favour. Don’t take them for granted. If you can afford it buy a small gift to say thank you, if you can’t send a text, email or even make a phone call to say thank you.
Hope you found it helpful?

Shirt that never needs washing and won't smell, even after 100 days of continuous use

A New York City start-up is peddling a men's button-down wool shirt that the company says never needs washing and won't smell, even after 100 days of continuous use, including after a sweaty 5-mile run.

Cutting-edge clothiers Wool&Prince says it has put the wool used in this 'no wash' shirt (still in the prototype phase) through a special process that makes it soft to the touch, resistant to wrinkles and odour-repellent.

Charly-Boy To Start African Kardashians Family Reality Show

Charly boy (Charles Oputa) aka Area father is set for the "African Kardashians family show" which will feature four generations of the Oputas.
Maverick entertainer, Charles Oputa says the new reality show was created to shock timid, myopic, backward and mongoparkish Nigerians out of their old ways of thinking (clears throat)
“if you can’t see past me, you can’t see me, you must have depth” he said when he was speaking on his new project recently.
The new reality show will capture the four generations of the Oputas living inside his punk palace at Gwarinpa residence in Abuja.
The reality show will be titled “in your face” which can be likened to the Keeping up with the Kardashians show - there a lot will be unveiled.
According to him, the family life, the world outside the punk palace, the storms, the struggle to be compatible, the love, the pain, the reflection of family.
Charles oputa’s children will form the major characters in the show, from his oldest daughter Yvonne to the youngest in his family. I really should go and start a reality show soon too..lol! See pictures here...

Paul Okoye's Baby's Mother Stuck In London Hospital Over Unpaid Bills

P Square’s Second Baby's Mother Hold In London Hospital Over Unpaid Hospital Bill
Nigeria’s hip hop sensation, P Square (real name Paul Okoye), has reportedly abandoned the mother of his second baby in a London hospital where the woman recently gave birth to the entertainer’s baby.

A few weeks after welcoming his first new born baby in Atlanta, P Square – who is also known as P2 – had another baby delivered for him in a London hospital by a former beauty pageant contestant. However, this time, P Square has refused to claim paternal responsibility for the baby boy.

SaharaReporters learnt that the new baby’s mother is Elshama Benson Igbanoi, a 19-year-old and former Miss Plateau State. Our sources disclosed that she gave birth at the Queen Charlotte and Chelsea Hospital on Du Cane Road, London W12 0HS.

Our sources said the new mother had been in touch with P2, but he had not been forthcoming beyond telling her that he plans to arrive in London for a DNA test to ascertain paternity. SaharaReporters spoke to the woman’s father, Benson Igbanoi, in Abuja. Mr. Igbanoi stated that his daughter was faithful to the musician. He also revealed that he had sent several emails to P Square concerning his daughter’s pregnancy for him, but had received no response.

Another source said Elshama's family had contacted Paul Okoye's father and aunt to persuade the musician to accept responsibility for his baby.

Ms. Elshama insists that she never slept with any man except for P2, adding that she lost her virginity to him when she was 17 years old.

SaharaReporters learnt that the London hospital where she gave birth has not received any payments. “The hospital has been harassing both Elshama and her mother to pay hospital bills of over £5,000 that have been incurred,” said one source. The baby boy has been named Michelle Paul Okoye.

In a twist to the story, a source close to the former beauty queen said Ms. Elshama was a close friend to Anita, the other woman who gave birth to another baby for P2 a few weeks ago in Atlanta, Georgia.

P-Square's Paul Okoye welcomes child with 19 year old beauty queen?

According to a report by Sahara Reporters, Paul Okoye, the other half of twin singing sensation, P-Square, has welcomed a child with 19 year old MBGN 2012 contestant, Elshama Igbanoi. After reading the story, I contacted someone from Paul's camp and they said they do not know anything about the pregnancy or the girl. Strange. Read the SR report below...
